This is full time position with full benefits. Responsibilities include managing all aspects of the tennis program, including coaching, budgeting, and recruiting prospective student-athletes by adhering to the philosophy of Sweet Briar College and NCAA Division III rules. This position will oversee the sports information office with the help of the assistant sports information director. Head Tennis Coaching Duties: This position is responsible for the administration, budgeting, recruiting and coaching of women's tennis program. This involves an extensive amount of recruiting, coaching, traveling and advising of student-athletes. Candidate should possess the ability to motivate recruits, players, students, and alumni to support the program. Knowledge of the rules and strategies of tennis including, but is not limited to, teaching techniques and coaching strategies that are necessary for our student-athletes to compete at the collegiate level. Ability to interact effectively and establish cooperative working relationships with highly motivated student athletes, coaching colleagues, department staff and other persons from diverse backgrounds including parents, fans, boosters, members of the media an officials associated with tennis. Sports Information Duties: Duties in Sports Information may include overseeing the statistics, media and public relations office for all varsity intercollegiate athletic programs. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: writing, editing, and distributing press releases, hosting media events and press conferences, and arranging interviews with athletes and coaches; designing and producing media guides, game day programs, brochures and other publications; and developing and maintaining the College's athletic website. Provide athletic training services for Sweet Briar's athletic department, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as necessary. Coordinate and schedule physical examinations and medical referrals for student-athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete. Responsible for the formation of Sweet Briar's athletic training staff, including hiring, training and supervision of student athletic trainers. Work in conjunction with the strength and conditioning staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student-athlete needs. Schedule and coordinate athletic training staff and students for coverage of all team practices and athletic competitions. The Writing Center Director will work as a member of the Academic Resource Center team, which includes a Coordinator, a Writing Specialist, and a cadre of student peer-writing tutors. The responsibilities of the Writing Center Director will be to provide and preserve a sense of direction for the Center, to teach one course for the writing tutors and up to three courses in composition per year in the English Department, to prepare materials needed in the Center, to consult with Center staff and with faculty on writing instruction, to participate in the selection of writing tutors, to provide training, supervision and regular evaluation of writing tutors, to work with faculty in writing-across-the-curriculum programs, to provide for regular reports on the activities and progress of the Center, and to participate in regular and thorough evaluation of the Center's operations.
